Jane Horwood
Foreword from the Divisional Commander
I took up post in March 2009 and I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead a team of officers and staff who share my enthusiasm for delivering a quality service to the communities we serve.
Policing is complex and it is essential that we deal robustly with serious incidents and major crime but equally we must understand and deal with the issues that affect our communities on a daily basis. In order to do this we know that we need to listen carefully and tailor our approach. We will build on the success of our local policing teams and ensure that our relationships with local communities lie at the heart of all that we do.
Chief Superintendent Jane Horwood
Foreword from the Chair of South Worcestershire Policing Board
I have seen how effective local policing has been in tackling all levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in South Worcestershire. My role is to consult with local communities and ensure that the police continue to improve their quality of service in order to increase confidence and trust, and build on the sense of community within South Worcestershire.
I welcome the introduction of the Policing Matters Groups which are already proving to be a success in South Worcestershire.
The Police Authority continues to work closely with the Police and we look forward to another successful year.

West Mercia Police 3-year Plan
Serving - Protecting - Making the Difference
Our aim for 2012 is that:
- The public have confidence in us and express satisfaction with our policing service
- Levels of crime and anti-social behaviour remain low
- Our communities feel safe
To deliver the 3-year Plan, South Worcestershire Division's priorities for 2009/10 are:
- Speak to our communities to determine what matters using a variety of methods such as face to face, postcard surveys, surgeries etc, and with our partners, do all that we can to deal with their concerns.
- Remain visible, accessible and familiar to the community. We will maintain the current number of Local Police Officers and Community Support Officers.
- A commitment to high visible patrols and a team approach to policing.
- Maintain our efforts in tackling volume crime, anti-social behaviour and reducing road casualties.
In developing these priorities we have taken into account our local crime and disorder reduction partnership strategies and local area agreements.
Local Policing Teams
Our Local Policing Teams are dedicated to improving the quality of life of all those people who live or work in and visit South Worcestershire. Our aim is to engage with our communities by spending as much time in our local neighbourhoods as we can.
We will engage with our communities in a number of ways including Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings: surveys will help inform us as to how we are doing. Together with our partners, communities, charities and volunteer groups, we aim to deliver long term problem-solving solutions.
Leaflets and posters providing details of your Local Policing Team have been distributed across South Worcestershire. You can contact your Local Policing Team directly, either in person, by telephone 0300 333 3000 or via email. Contact information, along with details of PACT meetings and current priorities are available on the West Mercia Police website www.westmercia.police.uk .
