South Worcestershire Foreword

We remain committed to promoting community safety, improving public confidence and satisfaction in policing services and protecting the public. We place great importance upon listening to the needs and concerns of our communities and seeking a clear understanding of what is important to them.

Over the next year and beyond, our aim is to work smarter, operate using streamlined processes and focus all of our efforts on serving and protecting the public of South Worcestershire in the best and most effective way that we can.

Foreword from the Chair of South Worcestershire Policing Board

A good working relationship between the Police Authority, West Mercia Police and our partners is key to delivering an effective and efficient policing service for our community.
My role is to consult with local communities to ensure that the police continue to improve their quality of service in order to increase confidence and trust, and build on the sense of community within South Worcestershire.
In 2009/10 we again saw significant reductions across South Worcestershire in all areas of crime. This demonstrates the commitment and hard work that all officers, staff and statutory partners have undertaken throughout the year.

West Mercia Police Three Year Plan

Serving - Protecting - Making the Difference

Our aim for 2013 is that:

  • The public have confidence in us and express satisfaction with our policing service
  • Levels of crime and anti-social behaviour remain low
  • Our communities feel safe

To deliver the Three Year Plan, South Worcestershire's priorities for 2010/11 are:

  • Speak to our communities to determine what matters using a variety of methods such as face to face, postcard surveys, surgeries etc, and with our partners, do all that we can to deal with their concerns.
  • Remain visible, accessible and familiar to the community. We will maintain the current number of Local Police Officers and Community Support Officers.
  • A commitment to high visible patrols and a team approach to policing.
  • Maintain our efforts in tackling serious violent crime, anti-social behaviour and reducing road casualties.

In developing these priorities we have taken into account our local crime and disorder reduction partnership strategies and the Worcestershire Local Area Agreements.

Local Policing Teams

Our Local Policing Teams are dedicated to improving the quality of life of all those people who live or work in and visit South Worcestershire. Our aim is to engage with our communities by spending as much time in our local neighbourhoods as we can.

We will engage with our communities in a number of ways including Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings: surveys will help inform us as to how we are doing. Together with our partners, communities, charities and volunteer groups, we aim to deliver long term problem-solving solutions.

Leaflets and posters providing details of your Local Policing Team have been distributed across South Worcestershire. You can contact your Local Policing Team directly, either in person, by telephone 0300 333 3000 or via email. Contact information, along with details of PACT meetings and current priorities are available on the West Mercia Police website www.westmercia.police.uk.
