Introduction
Telford & Wrekin Territorial Policing Unit (TPU) is split into five command areas known as Central, Newport, North, South and Wellington with a local Police Station situated in each area and the TPU Headquarters in the Central sector at Malinsgate. Telford & Wrekin has a population of 162,100 with diverse and emerging communities all of whom deserve their own style of local policing. Within Local Policing there are 4 Inspectors supervising 20 Local Policing Teams comprising 28 Police Officers, 49 Community Support Officers and 44 Special Constables. In addition to this, the TPU has a range of other resources that bring unique skills to each area including 24 hour Response Officers, Specialist Crime Investigators, and officers who have expertise in drug investigations, public protection and road policing. Collectively, these officers work for the community tackling a wide range of serious crime and quality of life issues on a daily basis.
Telford & Wrekin Foreword
We remain committed to promoting community safety, improving public confidence and satisfaction in policing services and protecting the public. We place great importance upon listening to the needs and concerns of our communities and seeking a clear understanding of what is important to them.
Over the next year and beyond, our aim is to work smarter, operate using streamlined processes and focus all of our efforts on serving and protecting the public of Telford and Wrekin in the best and most effective way that we can.
Foreword from the Chair of Telford & Wrekin Policing Board
We have developed joint consultation and community engagement arrangements with our partners. This has led to the formation of public meetings called "Your Community Matters" where local residents can meet their TPU Commander, Local Police Authority Members and our Partners, to find out about local services and to give their views. Community consultation should be at the heart of our local policing. I believe in the local community having an influence on local policing and that's what we are endeavouring to improve here in Telford. Crime and anti-social behaviour have been falling over the recent years and I look forward to working with the TPU to further improve the lives of the people of Telford.

West Mercia Police Three Year Plan
Serving - Protecting - Making the Difference
Our aim for 2013 is that:
- The public have confidence in us and express satisfaction with our policing service
- Levels of crime and anti-social behaviour remain low
- Our communities feel safe
To deliver the Three Year Plan, Telford & Wrekin's priorities for 2010/11 are to:
- Strengthen the confidence of all our communities by delivering a style of policing which is locally influenced.
- Improve the service offered to victims and witnesses so that the needs of customers are at the heart of what we do.
- Work with our partners to tackle the crime and anti-social behaviour that has a significant impact upon our communities.
- Use our resources more efficiently and effectively, to improve investigations and our ability to respond to crimes and incidents in a timely manner.
In developing these priorities we have taken into account our local crime and disorder reduction partnership strategies and the Telford and Wrekin Local Area Agreement.
Local Policing Teams
Within Telford and Wrekin TPU there are over 80 Police Officers, Community Support Officers and Special Constables working in 20 Local Policing Teams. Every part of the TPU is served by a dedicated Local Policing Team.
The Local Policing Teams provide a community based approach to policing. They focus upon solving local problems and establishing good relationships with residents and other agencies (such as Telford and Wrekin Council) to create communities that make people feel safe to live and work in.
You can contact your Local Policing Team by email, telephone 0300 333 3000 or by calling into your local police station. Full details of your local officers, their contact details and the current priorities in your local area can be found on the West Mercia Police website www.westmercia.police.uk.
