Public Service Desks

Each of West Mercia's divisions has a public service desk which provides a local facility to deal with incidents that do not require a police officer to attend. Staff employed at our public service desks are skilled at both managing telephone calls and crime investigation.

Public service desks generally operate from 8am until 11pm every day. Outside of these hours, a call handling service is provided by the force's communications centres that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Keeping people informed is a key part of our  policing pledge, the Victims' Code of Practice and national police call handling standards. Staff employed within public service desks and communications centres support investigating officers to maintain the levels of service required.
