The Firearms and Explosives Licensing Unit administers licenses for all current firearms and explosives within the West Mercia area, and provides an advisory service to the public, police officers and the shooting sports community.
The law relating to shotguns, firearms and explosives is complex, so we aim to provide everyone with clear and concise guidance through this website and our specially trained staff.

West Mercia & Warwickshire Firearms Licensing Unit
As a result of an alliance with Warwickshire Police, both West Mercia & Warwickshire Firearms and Explosives Licensing Departments will form a single unit based in Malvern, Worcestershire.
Details of any amendments to the application process will follow in due course, and all current license holders will be written to by early July to let them know what they need to do next.

E Commerce
Firearms & Explosives Licensing will be the first alliance business process to be supported by eCommerce for Policing.
Users of the service, which is due to go live in April 2014, will benefit from all the functionality, options and services they would expect from an online retailer, including user-friendly forms to complete with easy-to-access online help, an online payment facility and the ability to request a time slot for a visit. Through a combination of email and SMS messages customers will be kept up to dated on what is happening at every stage of the process.
