Force Expenditure Over £500
In this section we are listing payments of greater than or equal to £500 made by West Mercia Police each month. We are publishing these lists so the public can see how the force spends its budget in greater detail and is part of our committment to being open and transparent.
Explaining The Data
The data includes payments to suppliers for goods and services, grant payments, payments to other public bodies and expense payments.
Some lines will be for amounts for less than £500. This is because the invoice has been broken down over different expense areas and expense types but the total for the invoice will add up to £500 or more (including VAT).
For data protection reasons some payments may have information replaced with the words "REDACTED PERSONAL DATA" or "REDACTED COMMERCIAL CONFIDENTIALITY".
Below is a brief explanation of the information provided in the report:
- URI - This is a unique reference number that you will need to supply if you have a query regarding one of the transactions in the report
- Company Name - The name of the body making the payment - in the case of West Mercia Police, all budgets are held on behalf of West Mercia Police Authority
- Transaction Date - The date the invoice was processed by the Authority.
- Voucher Number - This is the reference code from our accounts system that we use to identify the invoice that has been paid

Format Of The Spreadsheets
The spreadsheets are published each month as CSV files so that they can be easily read in a variety of applications. However the CSV format uses a standard column width and not all entries may be completely visible. To view all the data, you will need to expand the columns. If you use Microsoft Excel to open the CSV files, you can do this by selecting all the cells in the file (the grey box beside column A and above row 1), and then clicking on Format / Column / AutoFitSelection.
