The Force has one Fingerprint Enhancement Lab which enhances fingermarks. They also do ESDA (Electrostatic detection apparatus) and visual examination using various wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum. There is a requirement to carry out DNA swabbing of items prior to some chemical treatments.
The consumable budget for the unit last financial year was £13,247. The unit has an establishment of 2.8 FTE staff
