Support for the Provision of Community Support Officers
West Mercia Police employs 290 Community Support Officers (CSOs) across its five divisions.
CSOs work within local policing teams and are expected to spend the majority of their time on visible patrol. Their job is to deal with quality of life issues and provide reassurance.
Funding for CSOs is provided from a variety of sources. In 2008/09 these are:
