Sponsorship Arrangements With Businesses

Sponsorship received by West Mercia Police is governed by the Police Authority's Financial Regulations.

These state that the Chief Constable shall be informed of all offers of gifts, loans of property and sponsorship and a record maintained of their market value for reporting at the end of the financial year. The maximum value of gifts, loans and sponsorship shall not exceed a maximum equivalent value of 1% of the annual revenue budget.

West Mercia may receive sponsorship for particular equipment and activities. Most sponsorship is for vehicles. Sponsors are either local public bodies or private businesses.

Sponsorship may be in kind or in cash towards particular vehicles.

The value of sponsorship in kind is estimated by reference to an annual rate for vehicle leasing. The value of 3 mobile telephones has also been estimated.
For the year 2011-12 the estimated value of this sponsorship is £29,300
