Introduction From the Divisional Commander
Telford & Wrekin remains a safe place to live and significant reductions in crime have been achieved in the last 12 months.
Recorded crime fell by nine per cent in 2008/9 and the number of anti-social behaviour incidents dropped by 12 per cent, highlighting our ongoing commitment to address community concerns.
The figures for burglaries and vehicle crime also fell significantly - down by 13 per cent and 24 per cent respectively - and the numbers of offences remain low.
We are committed to delivering the promises made in our policing pledge . An important component of this is the provision of local policing and crime information on the force's website. Crime statistics are available for each local policing area and are updated monthly.
The division is divided into five policing areas, each covered by a local police station - Donnington, Madeley, Malinsgate (Town Centre), Newport and Wellington.
Our 20 local policing teams listen carefully to the needs and concerns of communities and continue to work closely with them through the PACT process to achieve local solutions to local problems.
Telford & Wrekin is made up of many different communities with minority ethnic residents making up about six per cent of the total population. We recognise that diverse communities have different needs and that different policing styles are adopted to meet these expectations.
With the support of our partners, our aim is to make residents feel their communities are safe and more satisfied with the response they get when they ask for our help.
Temporary Chief Superintendent James Tozer
