Police Seek Witnesses To Shrewsbury Assault
Police are seeking witnesses to an attack on a 24-year-old man in Shrewsbury town centre as he made his way home during the early hours of yesterday.
He was assaulted by another man in St Julians Friars who ran up behind and struck him on the head with a bottle.
The incident happened between 2.30am and 2.45am, close to the Hop and Friar in Wyle Cop.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We are anxious to hear from anyone who witnessed this assault. The victim was knocked to the ground and suffered a cut to his head.
"He managed to punch his assailant as he was being attacked. Please contact Shrewsbury police station by calling the 101 non-emergency number if you have any information about the person responsible."
The injured man received stitches to a head wound at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
