Police Appeal Following Assault In Leominster

Police in Herefordshire are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault in Leominster.

The incident occurred in the Burgess Street Car Park on Friday 20 July.

At around 3.40pm, the victim - a 49-year-old woman - had just got into her car when another vehicle pulled up and blocked her in her parking space.

Two women - one aged approximately 60 and the other in her late 30s - got out of the vehicle and approached the victim's car.

The victim got out of her car and the two women immediately began to verbally abuse her. The younger of the two women then pushed the victim against her car before the older woman followed up by hitting her twice in the face.

A police spokesman said:

"After the victim had been hit, an unknown man intervened to stop the assault and at this point the two women left the scene.

"The man ensured the victim was OK but he then left the scene without leaving any details.

"As a result of this incident the victim suffered bruising to the left side of her head.

"Officers investigating this incident are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed it, but are particularly keen to trace the man who intervened and helped the victim.

"This man, or anyone who has information about this assault, is asked to contact PC 3553 Alan Tobey on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you'd rather leave information without getting directly involved yourself."
