Alert After £13,000 Of Shoes Stolen From Kidderminster Shop
Police are asking people to be alert at car boot sales and markets after shoes and slippers worth more than £13,000 were stolen from a Kidderminster store in the run up to Christmas.
It is thought the thieves may try to sell the goods on cheaply after stealing them from Shoe Zone in Vicar Street. The stolen stock includes Homer Simpson slippers and ‘bootee slippers' in various colours.
Thieves broke in overnight between Tuesday, 13 December, and Wednesday, 14 December and also took a safe and a quantity of cash, along with electrical goods including a microwave oven and vacuum cleaner.
PC Lee Hanson, who is investigating, said: "Stock from similar thefts elsewhere in the Midlands has been recovered being sold at car boot sales and we would ask people to look out for this footwear being sold cut-price in the New Year. If you come across brand new shoes and slippers like this being offered cheaply then please let us know immediately and if possible take the registrations of any vehicles the sellers are using."
Anyone with information should contact PC Hanson at Kidderminster Police Station on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident reference 80-S-141211, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
