Anti Social Behaviour Is Focus Of Redditch PACT

Anti social behaviour and concerns about drug use were the main focuses of a PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meeting in Redditch.

Woodrow and Greenlands PACT took place on Thursday 8 December.

Residents raised concerns about youths shouting, swearing and being rude to other passengers on buses on the way to and from school.

Police and community support officers are to travel on buses at relevant times, and are also liaising with Worcestershire County Council over concerns about overcrowding on the Number 93 bus to Crabbs Cross.

The issue of youths gathering and possibly smoking drugs on the footpath near to the underpass by the scout hut in Harris Close was also raised.

Police are to patrol this location to identify those responsible, and members of the public are being asked to contact police if they see groups congregating there, rather than confronting the groups themselves.

Concerns about youths drug dealing in Pedmore Close were raised via a PACT postal survey. Police are monitoring the situation and if the offenders are identified, they will be dealt with robustly.

The fourth priority was overgrown shrubs and trees on the footpath in Nine Days Lane, which is making pedestrians feel unsafe. Police are contacting Redditch Borough Council to make it aware.

Local Policing Officer PC Nigel Bennett said: "The meeting was dominated by concerns about anti social behaviour and drug use. These issues are obviously very important to the local community and police are taking positive action to deal with them.

"Updates will be given at the next meeting, which takes place on Thursday 12 January at 7pm at Auxerre House, Auxerre Avenue."
