Appeal After Post Office Burglaries - Malvern Hills
Police are appealing for information after two Post Offices in the Malvern Hills area were targeted in the early hours of this morning (23 July).
At 3.35am, a member of the public called the police after hearing a loud noise coming from the Post Office on Gloucester Road in Welland. Officers attended to find that someone had tried to break into the premises, but that it had not been entered and nothing had been stolen.
Around an hour later at 4.40am, police were called after an alarm was set off at the Post Office on The Terrace in Clows Top. Officers attended and found that the premises had been broken into via the main door and that the till, including the float, had been stolen.
Officers say it is too early to establish if there is a link between the attempted burglary at Welland and the burglary at Clows Top.
Sergeant Christopher Rhodes from Malvern police station said: "In connection with the burglary at Clows Top, witnesses recall seeing a burgundy Ford Fiesta being driven away from the scene, in the direction of Bewdley.
"I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this car in the time leading up to the burglary and may know of where it headed afterwards.
"Similarly, I would also encourage any member of the public with information about the attempted break-in at the Post Office in Welland to call us too."
Anyone with information about this incident can call Sgt Rhodes on 0300 333 3000, quoting 48S 230712 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
