Appeal For Information Following Sexual Assault, Telford
Detective Constable Allan Black, who works in CID at Malinsgate Police Station, has appealed for assistance from the public as he continues to investigate a serious sexual assault that occurred in Donnington last month.
The incident occurred sometime between 11.45am and 12.30pm on Monday 23 August close to the Aldi supermarket on Wellington Road.
The victim - a 38-year-old woman - got off a bus at the bus stop on Wellington Road and then took shelter under some trees on the recreation ground while she waited for the heavy rain to stop.
It is while the victim waited under these trees that this assault took place.
A man in his mid 20s has been arrested on suspicion of rape as part of the police investigation and he has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Speaking about the investigation DC Black said: "Although a little time has passed since this assault I am keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anything unusual in that area at around the time in question.
"The victim remembers seeing a number of dog walkers in and around the recreation ground at the time she was being assaulted and therefore we are especially keen to hear from anyone who may have been walking their dog at the time this assault occurred.
"If you were walking your dog that day and saw anything that could be linked to the incident we are investigating please make contact with us.
"Anyone who believes they may have information that could help our investigation is asked to call police in Telford on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively, please remember that information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you would rather not get directly involved yourself."
