Appeal For Witnesses Following Assault In Redditch

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault on a man in Redditch.

It happened at around 10.45pm on Friday, 27 January, at the top of the steps leading from Hewell Road into Gloucester Close.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was walking along Hewell Road towards the steps when he approached two youths. They started to move out of the way to let him pass but then assaulted him.

At this point a silver car pulled up and the driver beeped its horn, which made the two youths run off.

The victim sustained facial injuries. Paramedics attended the scene but no treatment was required.

Both youths are white and in their late teens. One is about 5ft 8ins tall, average build, and was wearing a light grey jacket with the hood up. The other is about 5ft 6ins tall, thin build, and was wearing a dark blue or black jacket and black and white checked trainers.

PC Emma Morton said: "We are eager to speak to the driver of the silver car as they may have seen the assault and could have information that can help our investigation.

"We would also like to speak to anyone else who was in the area late on Friday evening and saw the assault or thinks they know who the offenders are."

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact PC Morton at West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident 782-S-270112, or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
