Appointments Cancelled After Cable Stolen From Kidderminster
Police are appealing for information after an electrical cable was stolen from Kidderminster Health Centre.
The theft of the £200 cable, which supplies power to the mobile breast screening unit, resulted in appointments having to be cancelled.
Offenders approached a small green electricity sub station within the grounds of the Bromsgrove Street health centre, forced the doors and removed the cable sometime between 3.45pm on Friday 27th January and 7.30am on Monday 30th January.
The clinic had to cancel 60 appointments yesterday, and had a replacement cable not been available, it would have had to cancel up to 300 over the course of the week. However, repairs were completed this morning and the clinic is operating as normal today.
PC Lee Halford of West Mercia Police said: "The theft of the cable caused a great deal of inconvenience and distress to patients whose appointments had to be cancelled, as some had taken time off work.
"We are checking scrap yards and conducting a number of other inquires, including looking at CCTV.
"We believe the offenders may have approached from the rear of the health centre site, which backs on to the ringroad, so we are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious during the weekend to contact us on 0300 333 3000 quoting incident 725-s-300112 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
