Arrests Made Following Worcester Park Assault

Two people have been arrested in connection with an incident in which a teenage boy was racially abused and assaulted in Gheluvelt Park in Worcester.

On Sunday, 15 July, the 15-year-old victim was playing football in the park when he was racially abused by a woman. A man then approached the youth, pushed him against a tree and then pinned him to the ground.

The youth suffered grazes and bruising but was otherwise uninjured.

Following police inquiries, on Wednesday, 18 July, officers attended an address in Merrimans Hill. A man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and a woman was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence in connection with the Gheluvelt Park incident.

The pair - both in their 30s - were later released on police bail.
