Attempted Robbery At Stourport Newsagent

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an attempted robbery at a Stourport newsagent.

It happened at about 2pm on Saturday, 11 August, at Taylors Newsagent in Areley Common.

A member of staff was standing behind the shop counter when she noticed two men entering the store. One of them grabbed her wrist as she opened the till and she shouted out at them. They then left the shop empty handed and ran towards a nearby alleyway which leads to the Walshes Estate.

The two men are thought to be in their 20s, between 5ft 8ins and 6ft in height, with dark hair and were wearing dark coloured hooded tops and dark coloured trousers. One of them was wearing a red scarf across part of his face.

Detective Sergeant Tom Harding of Kidderminster CID said: "This incident left the woman very shaken although thankfully she wasn't hurt.

"We are eager to hear from anyone who was in Areley Common or the Walshes Estate area on Saturday afternoon and thinks they saw these men in the area either before 2pm or running away shortly after."

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact DS Tom Harding on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 407-S-110812, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
