Badsey Bike Security Boost
Cyclists will have the chance to improve their bike security when they attend a cycle awareness event at Badsey Village Hall between 10am and 2pm on 31 January.
"As new bikes can range from around £100 to literally thousands nowadays they are a prime - and sometimes too easy - target for opportunist thieves," said Evesham Rural South Community Support Officer Phil Schoenrock.
."It is important, therefore, for every owner to ensure that they always take maximum care to secure their bikes and to have them security-marked so that if they are taken they can be identified later both in terms of prosecutions and getting the bikes back.
"Everyone with a bike can learn from what will be on show at our focused event, although we expect the majority of those attending to be youngsters," added CSO Schoenrock.
The new event will include:
- Cycle security marking demonstrated by PC John McLaren, of South Worcestershire Police, using the SmartWater system;
- A cycle-related competition for junior riders with prizes provided by Wychavon District Council;
- Crime prevention advice from Wychavon Neighbourhood Warden Frances Hayley;
- Attendance by Evesham Wheelers with ‘turbo-training' equipment;
- An external obstacle course challenge.
