Boy Fractures Face In Redditch Assault

Police are appealing for information about an incident in which a boy sustained serious facial injuries in Redditch.

It happened at around 12.50pm on Tuesday 20 December near the Sportsman pub in the town centre.

The victim, a 15-year-old, and two friends were walking along Peakman Street towards Alcester Street when a black Ford Fiesta rounded the corner from the pedestrianised area and almost collided with them.

The driver got out and words were exchanged between him and the boys during which the man punched the victim on the cheek before getting back into his car and driving off at speed towards Victoria Street.

The man is described as white, about 6ft tall, in his late 20s to early 30s, of stocky build, with short blond hair. He was wearing a grey hooded top with matching tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Matt Archer of West Mercia Police said: "The victim sustained serious facial injuries including three fractures to his eye socket, for which he was treated at the town's Alexandra Hospital.

"The town would have been busy at the time, and we are appealing for anyone who saw or heard what happened, or anyone who knows the person responsible and can help us locate him, to contact us on 0300 333 3000 quoting incident 92-n-201211 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
