Burglars Steal Cigarettes From Market Drayton Supermarket
Cigarettes were stolen by a gang of burglars who broke into Sainsbury's superstore in Market Drayton.
Police believe three, possibly four offenders were involved in the burglary which happened between 4am and 4.05am yesterday (Jan 4).
They were travelling in a dark coloured car, thought to be a black Audi coupe.
Entry was gained to the supermarket in Shrewsbury Road by forcing a door. Once inside, they forced the shutters on the cigarette display and used several bins to carry packets of cigarettes to their getaway vehicle.
The car made off towards the Muller factory after the security alarm sounded.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses who may have spotted the car, or seen people in dark clothing acting suspiciously in the area of Sainsbury's during the early hours up to about 4.05am when they fled the scene.
"We believe they brought the bins with them to move the cigarettes and again, we are seeking information from anyone whose bin has been stolen, to contact Market Drayton police on the 101 non emergency number."
Information can also be given to the anonymous independent Crimestoppers charity, by calling 0800 555 111.
A number of national lottery scratch cards were also stolen.
