Car Key Burglary In Rednal
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a car key burglary in Rednal.
It happened between 8.45pm on Sunday, 25 March and 8am on Monday, 26 March, in Eachway.
The silver Renault Megane, registration number SP05VGT, was locked and parked on the drive on Sunday evening, but was discovered missing when the owners woke on Monday morning.
Unfortunately they had left the car keys inside their front porch, so the offenders were able to reach them with a metal pole which had been left behind hanging out of the letter box.
PC Cheryl Jones said: "We would advise residents to not leave keys on show where they can be easily accessed.
"It only takes a few moments for an offender to reach through an open window, letter box or even a cat flap with a coat hanger or similar to reach keys and you would be none the wiser until you noticed your car gone.
"We would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area during the times stated or thinks they may have seen the car since Sunday evening."
Anyone with information should call PC Jones on 0300 333 3000 quoting incident 50-S-260312 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
