Delivery Driver Attacked And Robbed In Kidderminster
Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Kidderminster in which a delivery driver was attacked.
It happened just before midnight on Friday 25 November in Somerleyton Avenue while the victim, a man in his 60s, was about to deliver to a newsagents.
He had got out of his van, a silver Mercedes Sprinter, when he was approached by two young men asking for a light, who then punched him in the face. He ran to a nearby house for help but was followed by the offenders, who punched and kicked him to the floor and demanded his keys.
They tried to take the van but were unable to get into it and ran off in the direction of Broom Crescent.
The victim was treated at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley for swelling and bruising to his head and face, and a possible broken nose.
Detective Constable Stephe Dyer of West Mercia Police said: "This was a nasty attack by two young men on a much older man, and it continued even after the victim had run to a house to seek help. It only stopped when residents were alerted by the noise and shouted from a window."
The offenders are described as aged 18 to 20, about 6ft tall, and of skinny build. The main offender was wearing grey Voi tracksuit bottoms with a white logo and a grey hoodie covering his head. The second offender was wearing a white hooded top and black trousers.
