Disabled Whitchurch Man Attacked In His Home
A 74-year-old disabled man was pushed out of his wheelchair by three intruders who broke into his Shropshire home and stole £300.
The incident happened between 6.00pm and 7pm last night at a house in Newport Road, Whitchurch.
Detectives today appealed for public help in tracing the three men who forced the front door of the premises.
They pushed the man from his wheelchair onto the floor before stealing £300 from his shirt pocket. The men also ransacked downstairs rooms as they searched for other items of value before leaving.
Detective Sergeant John Weaver, one of the investigating officers, said today: "This was a frightening experience for an elderly man. Fortunately, although he was badly shaken, he was not injured.
"We want to hear from anyone who can help the police find these offenders. If anything suspicious was seen in the area from about 5pm onwards, do contact Shrewsbury CID on the non-emergency 101 number.
"We are also appealing for information about a red car which was spotted in Newport Road with two young men inside at around 5.30pm. It may or may not be connected to the incident and we need to check out if it had any involvement."
Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111, for which a reward may be paid.
