Doorstep Crime Awareness Event - Droitwich

Droitwich Police have teamed up with Age Concern to organise an event in the town to raise awareness about bogus callers and rogue traders.

The Doorstep Crime Awareness Day is set to take place on Thursday 23 July, when over-fifties from the town will be given advice in a bid to reduce doorstep crime.

Residents will be given a free lunch as well talks and information from Local Policing Officers on West Mercia's Knock Knock campaign, which offers advice on how to protect yourself from doorstep criminals and how to keep your property safe by marking it with the likes of SmartWater.

Representatives from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue, E-On power, Severn Trent, Neighbourhood Watch and Rooftop Housing will also be on hand to given valuable tips and advice. There will even be a short play from Pershore High School Drama Group on the subject.

PC Dene Storr, who is organising the event for Droitwich and other areas of Wychavon, said: "This is a great opportunity for people to have access to all of the agencies equipped with important advice on how to protect themselves from criminals and stamp out doorstep crime.

"Although crime is low in Droitwich, we hope this event will go towards keeping it this way and making residents feel safer and more knowledgeable on key facts and information that can benefit them."

The event is set to take place between 10:00 and 14:00 on Thursday, July 23 at Droitwich Community Hall, Heritage Way.

Anyone wishing to book a free lunch at the event should call 01386 555 744.
