Elderly Worcester Man Burgled By Intruder
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 80s was the victim of a burglary in Worcester on Tuesday (3 July).
At 1pm, the man returned to his home in Cedar Avenue in Brickfields to find a man in his kitchen who engaged him in conversation, asking for a cup of tea and some money.
He then insisted the elderly man search his house and only left after he handed over his wallet contained his bus pass and about £60.
The intruder left the house and walked off towards Brickfields Road at around 1.15pm.
The offender has been described as white, in his 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall and of a slim build. He was wearing a dark grey baseball cap and a light grey hooded jumper.
PC Dan Fenn from Worcester Police Station said: "It was quite disturbing for the elderly gentleman to walk into his kitchen and find a stranger, who then had the audacity to ask for a cup of tea.
"If anyone recognises the description of this man or if anyone in Brickfields had an unwelcome caller at their home on Tuesday I would like them to come forward."
PC Fenn can be contacted via the non-emergency police number 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please quote the reference 309s 03/07/12.
