End-Of-Term Disco A Success For Young People In Stourport
An end-of-term disco night for youngsters was a huge success for Youth Outreach Stourport (YORS) who organised it in conjunction with the town's local policing team.
More than 80 youngsters aged 11 to 17 celebrated the end of the school year with their friends at the DY13 ‘Disco Nite' at Stourport's Civic Centre on Friday (July 23).
It followed on from the success of a roller disco organised by YORS last month (June).
The local policing team is now busy making arrangements for the now annual Parties in the Park which will be held at Bewdley Sports Centre on Thursday, August 12, from 6pm to 9pm; and at Stourport's Memorial Park in Lickhill Road the following Thursday, August 19, between the same times.
West Mercia Police and partner agencies are highlighting diversionary activities for young people as part of Respect Week (July 26-30) - timed to coincide with the first week of the summer school holidays.
Such activities help to keep anti-social behaviour to a minimum by giving young people somewhere to go and something worthwhile to do.
Respect Week is also designed to raise awareness among young people of the impact anti-social behaviour can have on others in the community and to have respect for them.
