Girls Approached By Man In Stourport
Police are appealing for information following a suspicious incident in Stourport where two young girls were approached by a man in a car.
It happened at about 6pm on Thursday, 26 January, at the rear of the Barnfield Road play area off Layamon Walk.
The two girls, aged 9 and 10, who were on their bicycles, were approached by a man who offered them sweets. He suggested they could eat them in his car, but they quickly cycled away.
The man is described as white, slim, about 40 to 50 years old, with greying hair and was unshaven.
His car was a silver estate and had St George's flag stickers in the back window.
PC Tony Hunt said: "I would like to reassure parents that this type of incident is rare in the Wyre Forest area, but at the same time children should be made aware of the dangers of speaking to or going anywhere with strangers.
"Fortunately the girls came to no harm as they knew the dangers of going anywhere with strangers."
Police are keen to speak to anyone who thinks they may have seen the car or the man in the area on Thursday evening.
Anyone with information should call PC Hunt on 0300 333 3000, quoting reference 546-S-260112, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
