Image Released After Robbery Attempt
Police in Telford have today released an image of a man they wish to speak to in relation to an attempted robbery that happened back in February.
The incident took place in Little Dawley on Wednesday 22 February 2012.
Sometime between 3.30pm and 3.45pm, the victim - a 15-year-old girl - was walking along Malvern Crescent when an unknown man approached her from behind and tapped her on the shoulder.
The girl kept on walking but the man then pushed her against a fence and grabbed her mobile phone off her.
Bravely, the girl grabbed the phone back off the man, pushed him away and then ran off. The man followed her to the end of the road but then made off in the opposite direction.
A police spokesman said:
"The victim was left very shaken by this incident and we therefore remain keen to identify the man featured in the image we have released today as we believe he may have vital information about this incident.
"This man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact the police as soon as possible.
"The man who attempted to steal the girl's phone is described as being white, aged between 16 and 18, around 6ft tall and as having a stocky build.
"He is also described as wearing a black hooded top, a white shirt, black trousers and white trainers.
"The victim believes the man was smoking a cigarette.
"Anyone who feels they may know the identity of the offender, or the man in the image we have released today, is asked to call West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000 quoting incident number 110N 220212.
