Investigation Into Habberley Incident ‘Closed’

Police have closed an incident which happened at Habberley Valley after it was established that what had been witnessed was being filmed for a drama project.

Police received a report on Tuesday, 22 November, at around 11.25pm that two men appeared to be assaulting another man who was on the ground near a three-door Volkswagen hatchback.

Officers went to the scene but there was no sign of anyone or any vehicle when they arrived shortly afterwards. The car park was cordoned off while officers investigated.

Following an appeal for information a student contacted officers to explain that he and a group of friends had been filming for a drama project.

Detective Inspector Dean Jones said: "We would advise people to think carefully before staging something like this as it can be misinterpreted by passers-by.

"At the very least, the police should be contacted in advance to avoid any misunderstandings and an unnecessary police investigation."
