Kidderminster Towpath Robbery
Police are appealing for information about a robbery on the canal towpath in Kidderminster.
It happened at about 7pm on Tuesday, 17th January.
The victim, a 20-year-old man, left Tesco and started walking along the canal towpath in the direction of Castle Road. He was listening to his iPod when he was hit from behind, causing him to fall to the floor, and his bag was stolen.
The victim sustained bumps, scratches and cuts to his face, scraped knees, and soreness to his shoulders and neck, and was taken by ambulance to Kidderminster Hospital Minor Injuries Unit.
The bag and its contents, which included a laptop, Nintendo DS, MP3 player, and computer games, were recovered near the Watermill pub on Park Lane.
Three youths were arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information who has not already spoken to officers to come forward. In particular they would like to hear from anyone who saw people running on the towpath between Castle Road and the Watermill at around that time.
They asked to contact Detective Constable Jim Crowther at West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000 quoting incident 599-s-170112 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
