Local Police Officer Praises Telford Pride Event
PC Mick Evans, Local Police Officer for Madeley, has heaped praise on everyone involved in helping to organise and police the ‘Telford Pride' event that took place on Sunday 8 August.
More than 2000 people attended the event - which was centred around the Three Furnaces public house on Bridgnorth Road in Madeley on Sunday afternoon - and PC Evans has not only praised the organisers and the officers that ensured it ran smoothly, but has also paid tribute to the behaviour of all those people that attended and ensured that a good time was had by all.
Speaking about the event, PC Evans said: "The event seemed to be a huge success and we were pleased to play a part in ensuring the day ran smoothly. We had only two police officers dedicated to policing the event - myself and Sergeant Louis Hylton - and it's really pleasing that the six Community Support Officers (CSOs) and six Special Constables that assisted us were able to do so in such a professional manner.
"CSOs obviously play an important role within West Mercia Police at all times but it's especially pleasing to have the assistance of the ‘Specials' at events like Telford Pride and see the excellent work they do. Their help can certainly be invaluable.
"I'd also like to take this opportunity to praise the behaviour of everyone that attended the event itself because for so many people to get together in one place and so little disruption be caused, really is a fantastic reflection on the way the event was organised.
"The people attending the event all appeared to be enjoying themselves greatly and certainly everyone that I encountered accepted the police presence in a good natured way and without making officers feel unwelcome.
"I'm really pleased the event was such a success and I have to say that everyone on duty yesterday has spoken about what a nice event it was to police and how responsible everyone attending it was."
