Man Badly Injured After Fighting At Worcester Gym

Police are appealing for witnesses after large-scale disorder broke out at a sporting venue in Worcester this weekend and a man was assaulted and knocked unconscious.

Officers were called shortly after 10pm on Saturday (22 September) to City Gym, Sheriff Street, where fighting broke out at a mixed martial arts event.

Scuffles started among the spectators inside the gym and the disorder escalated outside with one man being struck on the head and left unconscious with several cuts to his head.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for further treatment

PC Alex Denny, who is investigating the incident, said: "Sadly a number of spectators at the event ruined an otherwise successful evening and a man has been left badly injured.

"Witnesses have told us that the victim was attacked by a group of six or seven black males and it has been alleged he was struck with a fire extinguisher and a bottle.

"I would like to appeal for any witnesses to come forward who have information about the general fighting that occurred, but in particular the assault on the man with head injuries."
