Man Charged With House Burglary In Ludlow

A man has been arrested and charged with burglary following an incident at a house in Ludlow.

Officers were called to the premises in Henley Orchards at about 1.40pm yesterday following a report by a member of the public of suspicious activity

Police attended to find the house insecure and signs that a burglary may have been carried out.

A search was carried out in the area and a 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of burglary a short time later.

He was taken into custody at Shrewsbury Police Station where he was interviewed and later charged. The man has been bailed to appear at Ludlow Magistrate's Court later this month.

A police spokeswoman today praised the person who made the initial call, allowing officers to attend quickly and secure evidence.

"As a result of them making that call, officers arrived on the scene within minutes and began a search, arresting the suspect at about 2.15pm," she said.

"We would urge anyone who witnesses a suspected crime in progress or behaviour that they consider suspicious to report it immediately to police, who can then take appropriate action.

"By reporting it at the time, police can act quickly and you could potentially prevent a crime from happening."

Non-urgent information can be passed to the police on 0300 333 3000 but in an emergency, such as a crime being in progress or if someone is in immediate danger, always dial 999.
