Man Robbed In Wellington

Police are appealing for information after a man was threatened with a knife and robbed of cash in Wellington.

The victim - aged 21 - was walking along Whitchurch Drive when the incident occurred some time around 12 noon to 12.30pm on Sunday.(12 August)

As he walked under the railway bridge, towards Texaco(known locally as Furrows Service Station) on Haybridge Road, he was approached by two Asian males.

The pair grabbed the victim and threatened him with a knife.

They then searched his bag and removed a small amount of cash from his wallet.

The offenders ran off towards the back of Crescent Road in Hadley.

The victim summoned help from fire-fighters at a nearby fire station. Officers at the station contacted police.

The victim was extremely shaken and suffered bruising to his arm. He did not require medical treatment.

Police are investigating the matter and are eager to speak to anyone with information.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "This was a nasty attack on a man in the middle of the day.

"We are hoping that a passer-by, either on foot or in a vehicle, saw something that could assist us with our enquiries.

"We especially want to hear from any individuals who saw the robbery itself take place, or the offenders or victim before or after the incident occurred.

"If you have any information at all, please do come forward."

Anyone with information should contact Telford CID by calling 101. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
