Man Sent To Jail For Burglaries In Redditch

A Redditch man has been jailed for two years for carrying out two burglaries in the town.

David Proctor, aged 18, of no fixed abode, admitted burglaries at Donnington Close and Loxley Close while the occupants were asleep in bed.

He was jailed at Worcester Crown Court on Friday, 11 November.

The Donnington Close burglary took place between 1am and 6am on 4 September. Proctor broke in and stole items including a handbag and the keys to a Vauxhall Vectra car which was stolen off the drive. The handbag was found dumped in Alvechurch and the car burnt out in Redditch.

The Loxley Close burglary happened between 10pm on 24 September and 6am on 25 September when a handbag, games console and games were taken, along with the keys to two vehicles and the vehicles themselves, a Volkswagen Polo and a Fiat Stilo.

The Polo was discovered on its roof in Alcester, and the owners only realised they had been burgled when they were woken by police checking on their welfare. The Stilo was found abandoned in Redditch.

Detective Constable Bob Cockburn of West Mercia Police said: "Many residents have an understandable dread of their home being broken into at night while they are asleep in bed, and burglaries like these leave them feeling vulnerable and extremely distressed.

"Proctor is a prolific offender and we hope Redditch residents will be reassured by the knowledge that he will be off the streets for a significant period of time."
