Man Subjected To Racially Aggravated Assault In Redditch
Police are appealing for information after a man was subjected to a racially aggravated assault while out with his baby.
It happened at around 2pm on Thursday 1 December in the park by Batchley Pool, off Cherry Tree Walk.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was pushing a pushchair containing his one-year-old daughter when he was approached by five youths who asked him for a cigarette.
When he said he had no cigarettes one of the youths pushed him, causing him to lose his balance and fall over, sustaining an injury to his right hand.
PC Paul Cook of West Mercia Police said: "While the victim was on the floor, the offender kicked the pushchair and took hold of it as if he was going to take it away, causing the victim to fear for his child's safety.
"The victim is Polish and the victim made racially abusive comments as he walked off.
The incident is therefore being treated as a racially aggravated assault."
The victim sustained a sprained wrist, which required hospital treatment.
The offender is described as white, aged 16 or 17, about 5ft 7ins to 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build, with short dark hair, and wearing a black jacket with a dark coloured hooded top underneath.
One of the other youths in the group was black.
Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact PC Paul Cook at West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000 quoting 394-s-011211 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
