Man Threatened With Firearm In Redditch

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was threatened with a firearm in Redditch.

It happened in Astley Close, Woodrow, at around 12.15pm on Friday, 22nd November.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was walking along the street when two men in a white Vauxhall Astra van pulled up next to him.

Believing they were going to ask for directions he bent down to speak to them, then noticed the passenger was holding a firearm. The man was threatened before the vehicle drove off in the direction of Woodrow North.

The vehicle was a 1.9 turbo diesel model, with the partial registration number KG03 and a black GB sticker on the rear.

The occupants of the vehicle were in their 40s. The driver is described as a mixed race man, of medium to large build, with short dark hair, a pencil line moustache above his lip and all round his face, and wearing a dark blue Adidas jumper with light grey stripes on the arms and a badge on the front. The passenger was white, of stocky build, had a bald shiny head, and his left eyebrow was pierced with a silver hoop and metal ball.

A man and a woman were arrested in the Smallwood on Friday evening, and a further man was arrested in the town centre just after 4pm on Saturday, all on suspicion of making threats to kill. They have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Detective Constable Claire Johnson of West Mercia Police said: “High visibility patrols have been taking place in the Woodrow area as a reassurance measure during the weekend.”

Witnesses or anyone with information, including anyone who recognises the description of the men and the vehicle, are asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 272-s-221113 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
