Motorist Named From Fatal Shropshire Road Collision
A 75-year-old man who died in hospital six days after being involved in a road collision near Bridgnorth, was this afternoon formally identified as Mr Alan Douglas Crowhurst, aged 75, from Cleobury Mortimer in south Shropshire.
Mr Crowhurst was driving a green Suzuki Wagon R which was involved in a collision with a cream Mercedes 500 SEL at Worfield around 1pm on Wednesday, July 11.
The vehicles were travelling in the opposite direction on the A454 when they collided outside The Wheel pub. The Suzuki was travelling from the Bridgnorth direction towards Wolverhampton.
Police Constable Mark Gallacher, one of the investigating officers, said Mr Crowhurst died in the North Staffordshire Hospital, Stoke on Tuesday (July 17).
A post mortem examination was carried out today and an inquest is likely to be opened early next week.
PC Gallacher said: "We are continuing to investigate the circumstances and appealing for anyone who saw the actual collision or either vehicle being driven beforehand, to contact Shrewsbury police station by calling 101."
