Narrowboat Broken Into And Set Alight In Shirley
Police are appealing for information about an incident in which a narrowboat was broken into and set alight.
It happened between midnight and 12.30am on Thursday, 19th January, on the Stratford on Avon canal at Drawbridge Road, Shirley.
The 62ft red and black narrowboat was moored near the Drawbridge pub.
A mattress was set alight in the bedroom, destroying the interior of the boat, causing £40,000 damage.
Several items have also been reported stolen, including a suitcase generator worth £600, an old starter/charger worth £250, and a security box containing 24 sovereign coins.
It is likely a vehicle was used due to the weight of the items stolen.
