New Community Support Officers On The Redditch Beat
Two new Community Support Officers are now on the beat with Local Policing Teams in Redditch.
Pete Davey has joined the Central Local Policing Team covering Smallwood and Southcrest and Lucy Diment is now with the team at Lodge Park.
Both of them have already worked for West Mercia Police in other roles. CSO Davey previously spent 32-years with the force during which he worked with many communities and partner agencies.
He hails from Wellington, Telford, and after finishing his education at the Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College there he worked for a time with the Ministry of Defence at Donnington - also in Telford.
He has not worked in Redditch before but said he was enjoying the diversity of his new role. Last week (November 25 and 26) he took part in a Community Action Days at Smallwood when various partner agencies highlighted their services to members of the public. It was organised by the Redditch Community Safety Partnership and for their part the police focused on crime prevention.
CSO Davey said: "Working in the town is a new departure for me but I enjoy the variety, being out in the fresh air and being involved in the community."
He is married with two grown-up children and when not at work enjoys fell walking and playing snooker for his local Royal British Legion club team. This year he was also introduced to parascending as a sport.
The other members of the Central Local Policing Team are Sergeant Jane Gilkes, PC Adrian Corrigan and fellow CSO Surinder Maman.
CSO Diment is also new to Redditch and has joined Lodge Park LPT after spending a year in an administration role at force headquarters, Hindlip Hall.
Prior to that she had studied for a degree in Public Services at Plymouth University after finishing her schooling at Edgecliff High in Kinver.
Although she hails from Stourbridge she now lives in the Worcester area.
She said: "Working as a Community Support Officer brings me face-to-face with people on a daily basis, which I really enjoy, and I like the idea of being able to make a difference in the community. I am still building working relationships in Lodge Park and everyone has made me feel very welcome."
She has already got involved in efforts to set up a police surgery for children at St Bede's Middle School and a local gardening project which aims to bring together young people and the elderly to bridge the generational divide.
In her spare time CSO Diment enjoys keeping fit and lists horse riding as her main hobby.
At Lodge Park she works alongside Sergeant Dave Hope and PC Carrie Barnes.
