Owner Of Suspected Stolen Jewellery Sought In Shrewsbury

Do you recognise this suspected stolen jewellery and jewellery box?Is this your jewellery?

Detectives in Shrewsbury are trying to trace the owner, after finding the items dumped in a hedge.

The red leatherette jewellery box was spotted in Ellesmere Road, near the Herongate estate, by Detective Constable Dave Parker as he returned from dealing with another matter on Thursday 27th September 2012.

Due to its condition and that of the jewellery inside, the box is likely to have been there and exposed to the elements for some time and probably initially contained more items than those found.

Checks of police systems to try and identify the owner have so far drawn a blank.

"The majority of the items left in it would be considered costume jewellery, suggesting whoever stole this has unfortunately probably removed anything of value before dumping it," said DC Parker.

"However, there are some distinctive pieces that will have meant a lot to the owner, including a child's gold ring, possibly a Christening or Communion ring, in a small box that looks to be several years old.

"There is also a Next watch, two sterling silver cross pendants, a broach in the shape of a parrot, a gold stud earring in the shape of an aeroplane and a Timex watch with a broken bracelet.

"Some of these items will have a lot of sentimental value and I would love to reunite them with their rightful owner.

"If anybody recognises these items as theirs, please can they contact me at Shrewsbury Police Station on 101."

The owner will need to be able to demonstrate that the jewellery is theirs if they come to claim it.
