Police Appeal After Theft At Ledbury Supermarket

Police in Herefordshire are appealing for information from the public after a theft in Ledbury.

The incident occurred at the Tesco supermarket on Orchard Lane on Wednesday 7 December.

At just after 4.40pm, three individuals - two men and a woman - entered the store and approached the computer games rack. It appears that, while the woman distracted staff and other customers, the two men filled a bag up with games from the rack and then calmly left the shop with the woman.

Having left the store the three individuals walked off up to Homend and then got into a vehicle of some sort and drove away.

A police spokesman said:

"It appears the thieves stole at least 70 computer games from the rack. These games themselves are specific to several different consoles including the Microsoft Xbox and the Nintendo DS. It is thought that the value of the stolen items could be more than £1250.

"Police have been given detailed descriptions of the three individuals that entered the shop and made their way to the computer games rack.

"The first man is described as being white, as over 6ft tall, in his mid 40s, with a slim build, short dark hair and as wearing a long dark overcoat and dark trousers.

"The second man is also described as being white and in his mid 40s, but he is also said to be shorter than the first male, as having a medium build and as wearing a dark coat and dark trousers.

"The woman who distracted staff and customers is described as being white, in her mid 30s and as being around 5ft 5inches tall. She is also described as being of medium build, as having long, curly blonde hair and as wearing a pink ‘bomber' style jacket, a white scarf and light coloured trousers.

"Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen these individuals inside or outside the store yesterday - getting into a car for example, or from anyone who may know where the computer games can now be found or where they may be being sold.

"Anyone who believes they may have information about this theft is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101 - the force's new non emergency telephone number - or call 0300 333 3000.

"Alternatively, please remember that information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you'd rather not get directly involved yourself."
