Police Appeal To Trace Hit And Run Driver

Police in Hereford are appealing for information after a cyclist was knocked off his bicycle in the south of the city.

The incident occurred in Belmont on Sunday morning (29 January).

At just before 6.45am, a male cyclist was riding along Belmont Avenue when a passing vehicle collided with him, knocking him off his bike.

The vehicle is described as a ‘V' registered, light blue Rover 25 and it did not stop after colliding with the cyclist. The Rover is thought to have had at least four people in it.

A police spokesman said:

"Although the cyclist suffered only minor injuries as a result of this incident we are very keen to trace the occupants of the car involved.

"CCTV footage shows that prior to the collision the vehicle had travelled down the Ross Road before jumping a red light at the Asda junction. It then turned left up Belmont Road and immediately right into Belmont Avenue where the collision then occurred.

"The way the vehicle was being driven gives us cause for a great deal of concern which is why we are keen to trace the driver and the passengers.

"Anyone who has information about this incident, or who saw the Rover prior to the collision, is asked to call police in Hereford on 0300 333 3000.

"Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
