Police Investigate Theft In Bosbury

Police in Herefordshire are appealing for information following a theft in Bosbury.

The theft has only just been discovered and it is thought to have occurred sometime during the course of the past four weeks.

Sometime between 12.30am on Wednesday 7 November and 3pm on Friday 9 December, it appears that thieves made their way along the drive at a farm in Bosbury and then entered the farm yard.

The yard is around two hundred metres from the main farm house.

Once in the yard the thieves approached two cast iron rollers - which are designed to be towed by a tractor - and then stole over 100 metal rings which were stacked under an oak tree.

Each individual ring is quite heavy so it appears likely that the thieves loaded the stolen rings into a vehicle of some sort to enable them to transport the items away from the farm.

Two of the metal rings taken from the yard were later found in an orchard on the farm and these have been seized by police and will be examined for forensic evidence.

Officers investigating this theft are keen to hear from anyone who may have information about it and especially anyone who has seen any suspicious or unusual vehicles - such as trucks or vans - in an around Bosbury in recent times.

Police would also like to remind people to do all they can to ensure their property is as secure as possible. Ideally expensive items like trailers and farm machinery should be kept out of sight in secure buildings because obviously they are far less likely to be targeted if they are hidden away.

Anyone who believes they may have information about this theft in Bosbury is asked to call police in Hereford on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively, please remember that information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
