Police Recover Shropshire Triathlete’s Stolen Bike

Police have recovered a Ł4,500 racing bike stolen from the Shropshire home of a national triathlon star.

The Cervelo bike belonging to Louise Reynolds from Uffington, near Shrewsbury, who has represented Great Britain in the World and European Championships, was stolen during a burglary at her garage on New Year's Eve.

But police have now recovered the bike after carrying out a search warrant on Friday at a home in Market Square, Bishop's Castle.

Officers also arrested a 30-year-old man at the address on suspicion of theft.  He was taken into custody at Shrewsbury police station for interview and later given bail while police inquiries continue.

Sergeant Woolley said today: "Eight officers from both the Response and Local Policing Teams were involved in conducting the search warrant on Friday afternoon.

"We were acting on information supplied by members of the public.  The bike was recovered together with 14 new Abis projectors, most of which were still in their boxes.  These are suspected stolen property and we are appealing for information which might help in identify the owners."

He added: "The police always follow-up information supplied by the public.  People in our local communities can play an active role in helping counter crime by working with the police in this way.  We are grateful for the support they give."

Information about the property seized should be passed to Ludlow or Shrewsbury police stations by calling the 101 non-emergency number.
