Police Release CCTV Image

Telford Police have today issued a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with an assault on a shop assistant.Can You Help Identify This Man?

A female worker at Gills Food and Wine Store in Park Street in Madeley was assaulted after she confronted two suspected shoplifters.

Two men walked into the shop and selected a number of bottles of alcohol. However, they left the store without offering any form of payment for the goods.

The female shop assistant - aged in her 50's - chased after the men and grabbed one of them.

He punched the woman to her stomach and hit her over the head with a plastic bottle of alcohol.

She suffered slight injuries to her head and stomach.

Police are investigating the matter and are eager to trace the offenders.

Police are hoping that the man pictured in the CCTV has vital information that could help the investigation.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "We are eager to identify this man pictured in the CCTV.

"We believe he could have information which could help us with our enquiries.

"He was in the shop at the time of the incident and we are hoping he will be able to assist with our investigation.

"If this is you pictured in the CCTV, or you know who the individual is, then please come forward and speak to us.

"The shop assistant was very shaken by the incident and she was very fortunate she did not suffer more serious injuries."

The incident occurred at around 8.50pm on Tuesday 29 November last year.
