Police Renew Witness Appeal Following Shrewsbury Stabbing
Police today renewed appeals for witnesses to a stabbing incident in a Shrewsbury street which left a 22-year-old man seriously injured.
The incident happened at around 9.50pm on Sunday in the Mardol area of the town centre.
The man, who received a chest wound, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and later transferred to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in Stoke. His condition today was described as stable.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are seeking witnesses to the assault.
Detective Inspector Sarah Wagstaff said: "An investigation is ongoing and there were a number of people present in the area around the time of the incident who may have seen what happened. We would urge them to come forward and contact Shrewsbury CID on 0300 333 3000.
"We are also keen to speak to a lone male seen running away from the area at the time via Caernarfon Passage and across Hills Lane towards The Bellstone pub in Barker Street.
"He is described as being white, of medium build and about 5ft 7ins tall. He was wearing a blue or grey shirt and jeans."
DI Wagstaff added that a number of witnesses had already come forward but believed the incident had been seen by others. "This was a serious incident and it's vital we speak to everyone who saw any part of the assault or the circumstances leading up to it."
Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111.
